A Crowd of Cats, Each With a Story
This painting began with a simple idea: what if every cat had its own personality, and they all decided to gather in one place? Before I knew it, the canvas filled up slowly, patiently with dozens upon dozens of curious faces staring back at me.
Each cat in this piece has its own expression, posture, and mood. Some look proud, some look shy, some seem a little grumpy, and others appear quietly amused. As I painted, it felt less like I was creating characters and more like I was meeting them one by one. A tall cat squeezed in from the back. A tiny one peeked out from between bigger neighbors. Some insisted on bold colors, while others felt better in softer tones.
What surprised me most was how long it took to complete. Filling the entire canvas with detail, balance, and harmony became a slow, meditative process. I had to make sure each cat felt unique, yet still belonged to the group. In the end, the painting became a celebration of variety. How differences can exist side by side and still feel joyful.
Because of the richness of detail and the playful chaos of the composition, this artwork felt like a natural fit to become a jigsaw puzzle. Every section offers something new to discover, making it both challenging and satisfying to assemble.
If you’re a cat lover or a puzzle enthusiast (or both!), this artwork is now available as a puzzle in my shop, with multiple piece-count options:
