Halloween is Coming
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. There are so many fun and interesting characters! I love walking down the street and looking at all the decorations at each door. All these fun street scenes have given me so much inspiration for my Halloween-themed artwork.
Early Works
I started using Procreate on my iPad about five years ago. Since then, I’ve created one Halloween-themed painting on my iPad every year. When I look back at my earlier work now, I can really see how much I’ve improved over the years.
While I’m painting these characters, I like to give each of them a personality. I imagine what they are thinking, what they are doing, and how they interact with each other. Eventually, each painting turns into its own little story. That’s one of the reasons I love creating Halloween-themed artwork so much.
Sone Soup
Last year, my Halloween story was inspired by the folktale Stone Soup, and I had so much fun painting it!
Seriously, a vampire brings a bottle of red ketchup? The Reaper brings a fish bone, but he’s so shy that he hides himself in the corner? A ghost brings an onion, Jack-o’-lantern brings a carrot, a crow brings some greens, a mummy brings a pumpkin, and Frankenstein brings potatoes.
Everyone brings a little something, and together they make a big pot of Halloween Stone Soup!
I’m sure the red-haired witch can turn it into something delicious!
